On January 18, the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, is hosting its third annual Community Wellness Expo with a Health Screening and Education Expo from 7am to 7pm at the Great Plains Coliseum Annex. The event is once again sponsored by Southwestern Medical Center, the Heart and Vascular Center and Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
“The Wellness Expo is a wonderful opportunity for anyone in our community to start the year focusing on their personal health goals with a health screening. More than 20 businesses and organizations will also be available to provide information on a variety of health care services, products and healthy lifestyle activities right here in Lawton”, said Debra Burch, Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce President & CEO.
The Wellness Expo is free and open to the community. There is a minimal fee for those wanting to take advantage of the health screening. For just $20, participants will have the opportunity to receive over $200 in bloodwork. Screening includes: measurement of height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, LDL cholesterol, lipid profile and A1C (glucose). A 6-8 hour fast is recommended. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
The Wellness Expo was started by the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce as a commitment for the Lawton Fort Sill Community and southwest Oklahoma to become a healthier place to live and raise a family. The first year started with a challenge that kicked-off in January of 2010 with more than 900 in attendance.
