Kennewick Wash. (August 3, 2018) — Officials at RCCH HealthCare Partners announced today that the previously announced partnership between RCCH and Trios Health will become effective August 4, 2018 at 12:01 am. The hospital will be operated by RCCH-UW Medicine Healthcare Holdings, LLC as a joint venture formed between RCCH HealthCare Partners and UW Medicine. The sale of Trios Health to RCCH follows the June 20, 2018 Plan of Adjustment approved by the Federal Bankruptcy Court.
“We are excited to bring this innovative partnership with UW Medicine as well as new, additional resources to this growing community,” said Marty Rash, Chairman and CEO of RCCH HealthCare Partners. “The employees and medical staff at Trios Health have certainly been through a challenging season, but it is clear from the continued support and trust in Trios that this community wants and needs this hospital. We look forward to being part of the next exciting chapter in the Trios Health story.”
Trios Health is the second hospital to be part of the innovative RCCH-UW Medicine joint venture. The other is Capital Medical Center in Olympia, Washington. The RCCH-UW Medicine joint venture is a unique public-private partnership designed to provide select community hospitals and related healthcare services in Washington, Alaska and Idaho with the tools and resources that are necessary to support and enhance medical care in communities throughout the Pacific Northwest region. The new partnership and its hospitals will benefit from and leverage UW Medicine’s work to achieve the “Triple Aim” of improving the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction), improving the health of populations, and reducing the per capita cost of healthcare.
“UW Medicine is pleased to partner with RCCH HealthCare Partners with a focus on improving the health of communities throughout the region,” said Paul Ramsey, CEO of UW Medicine. “For several years, UW Medicine has worked closely with Trios to ensure that patients in need of advanced specialty care have access to the services of UW Medicine. We are looking forward to continuing our work with the Tri-Cities community in partnership with RCCH.”
Due to financial pressures, the Kennewick Public Hospital District (KPHD) filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection on June 30, 2017. The acquisition of Trios Health by RCCH HealthCare Partners was a key provision in the bankruptcy reorganization plan.
