What Are You Doing for Women’s Health Month?
May 18, 2025

Women’s Health Month, observed each May, raises awareness about women’s health issues and encourages women to prioritize their well-being through regular checkups, preventive care, and informed lifestyle choices.
Nationwide, Women’s Health recognitions are celebrated through activities such as health screenings, events, and educational opportunities to promote awareness of the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment of diseases that can occur in women, and to encourage healthy living.
This May and every month, Southwestern Medical Center encourages you to champion your health. Make some time for your most important asset – your health. The following activities are an effective guide for all women:
- Schedule an annual wellness visit ‒ call 580-531-6420 or visit https://swmconline.com/schedule to make your appointment
- Exercise regularly – that means moderate activity for at least 150 minutes each week
- Eat a healthier, well-balanced diet that includes foods that are low in salt, fat, and cholesterol
- Control your weight, and if necessary, work to reduce it
- Lower your stress or anxiety levels
- Quit smoking and avoid or reduce alcohol use
- Get enough sleep (7-9 hours per night for adults)
- If you are over 50, get a mammogram every two years
Happy Women’s Health month and week. We hope you mark the occasion by redoubling your efforts to make your life’s journey a healthier one. To learn more about the Women’s Health services provided by Southwestern Medical Center, visit swmconline.com/womens-health.
