Laboratory Services are critical in diagnosis and treatment of patients. At Southwestern Medical Center our laboratory is equipped with the highest quality technology and staff.
Our laboratory staff is proficient across all lab functions including hematology, chemistry and microbiology.
Lab technicians mostly analyze urine, tissue and blood samples to determine the presence of infection, bacteria or other abnormalities. These results will then be made available to the physician who ordered testing on the patient’s behalf.
Some laboratory screenings are available within thirty minutes of testing, but often samples take up to two days to process.
Southwestern Medical Center is committed to providing the best laboratory services possible which is why we are surveyed by the College of American Pathologist (CAP).
The Department of Laboratory, Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Department of Laboratory, Medicine and Pathology is intended to operate as a reference laboratory for all SWMC patients, both impatient and outpatient and to provide a 24 hour service for selected diagnostic tests. In addition it caters for non-common tests and provides liaison with an external laboratory, which is the Lab Corp for tests not available within our scope of service.
